He is undoubtedly the most infamous poster in the short history of The Superficial forums.
Neo supplies the hole with laughs and drama, and I want to say that he belongs right where he is. I recall when he was last banned (for something I'm sure he, and some others, will argue was trivial), the hole was divided and chaos ensued. There were banners and poems written about his deeds, and posters separating into factions whose ideals ran the gamut between crowning him and crucifying him. Yet everyone seemed so bored. The hole was filled with more sarcasm than usual, and many people appeared unsure of how to proceed without his threads. Slowly he came back with the aid of dupes and proxies, and as history has proved on The Superficial, no one remains banned forever. Upon his return, the hole reverted back to its natural state and everything seemed strangely "normal". It was a gradual shift, but you can't argue with the results.
Neo's most visible skill is definitely his argumentative talents, and his ability to manipulate his debates and the posters that frequent them. He is a master at distraction that would be a fine illusionist, but I'm sure he will make a superb prosecuting attorney someday.
His Threads
His polls are undeniably the most thought provoking and poignant threads in the hole at any time. For certain they are also very popular, sometimes reaching more than fourteen pages in one day. They are the standard by which all threads are based, and they're designed as to make the center of their attention question his/her worth not only on the forums but in "real" life also. They are powerful indeed. It is a skill that he carries head and shoulders above any other poster. For evidence of this, look no further than some of the other "poll makers" and their threads. Most are pale copies of a thread Neo has already made, and some are just downright awful, being incomplete or biased. You can tell he takes pride in his polls and puts time into making sure the options are well thought out and balanced.
Neo uses these polls in a variety of fashions; he may just throw something out there because he wants to know the answer, or because he thinks that most of the hole posters care also. He may just want to reduce a poster to tears by examining their motives and traits. Or perhaps he just thinks that it is funny.
I wouldn't presume to know Neo's motives so I will say that these are just educated guesses.
Neo brought the Yahoo voicechat craze to the forefront, and is constantly singing its praises. Sometimes I think of him as the Morticia of voicechat, shamelessly plugging the activity in an effort to gain more members and therefore more lolz. I have yet to participate, but I plan on it, and I'm sure it will be enjoyable.
Smart Fellow
He seems like he has quite a bit of intelligence, and he displays knowledge in a variety of topics. He rarely makes spelling mistakes and his grammar is usually correct, this should also point to how well he uses the edit button. He has also proven his adeptness with the search button, which is something I wish he would teach me. His knowledge of computers and the internet appear to be well above par, and I'm sure he could give great advice to anyone who has any questions about those topics and others. In fact, I think it would be wonderful if he started a Q and A thread where he solicits his advice.
Being on this celebrity site, his interest in popular culture sometimes peeks through, albeit not in an overt way. He has pretty good taste in movies because I agree with most of the films he's claimed to like.
Neo's Friends
I've talked to quite a few posters and noticed that there are many different views on Neo. But something I've noticed as of late is that some people who you wouldn't think would be in his corner, really are. I'm not talking about the so-called "Team Neo" group, but posters he's actually made fun of in the past that say 'he is a good guy if you get to know him'. And I have no doubt that this is true. But the fact is, for all his detractors, Neo has an awful lot of support.
Neo and I
I don't think Neo likes me, and it seems like a fairly recent decision he has made, because I don't think we've really had any trouble with each other before. I'm sure he's sore that I got upset and started a thread about him when he called me a bad father. Perhaps I overreacted a bit, but I will not take back anything I've said. It was after that thread that he started paying attention to me and using me as topic in the hole. I can't say that I'm surprised at all, and frankly, the attention makes me laugh. I even defended him on a few occasions; I started a thread entitled "Defending Neo" aptly enough, which was fairly well received by my standards. Let it be known that I acted entirely on my own because he doesn't need anybody else's help or mine. He's very capable at taking care of himself, as a matter of fact; his subversive tactics are sound enough to make Sun Tzu envious.
In some ways I think he and I are very much opposite in our posting styles, which is inevitably a catalyst for conflict, but as many examples show, it can also draw people together.
I write this knowing that Neo was making fun of me for my riffs, I figured it would be a great exercise to write one about him. And I didn't want to just call each other names on the forums either, because I too, come here for the lolz, it just seems that he and I differ on what delivers.
So let it be said that I have no problem with Neo and I hope I have demonstrated his worth justly herein.
