Angela Atwood is a veteran to the Gallery WIHM event. She is a Filmmaker.

What motivates you to do what you do?

There’s a goddamn story to be told, and I’m just the one to do it.

Who is your favorite woman who does what you do?

Wow. That’s a tough one. Phoebe Waller-Bridge has been especially inspiring, because she is like me, an actor who began writing and producing her own material. She has a crystal clear, unapologetic voice, and I love that about her.

If you had one wish for women in your space in 2020, what would it be?

The same old saw … more women in the director’s chair.

Share a practical tip for a woman who wants to do what you do.

Oh my,”practical.” Oh gosh, you’re funny. I doubt there’s anyone in my family who’d call what I do “practical.” So I guess that’s my tip – Accept that as an artist, it’s your job to buck the system. Know that it will be very hard work, which you will love like your own child. Practically speaking, it’s the most exhilarating, exhausting thing you’ll likely do in your life, so take care of your health, and your heart.

Inspire someone who is not where they want to be in the industry yet.

Your voice is unique. It’s beauty lies in its specificity. You are the only person qualified to tell us your story, and we’re dying to hear it. It’s your job. and Thank You.

What scares you?

the space between jobs

What projects do you have coming up?

“Lady Hunters” – the feature – is now in development! We just had a table read of the script, and it went crazy swell. I can’t thank these actors enough.
I’m also a co-star in a new series called “5A5B,” which just released ep 1 on youtube & vimeo, ep 2 drops Feb 24 (comedy)
and … staged readings in NYC, and location scouting for LH
