Our Conversation with Beatrice Sniper
Beatrice is a Special Effects Makeup Artist with experience working with prosthetics and making props, and is a rookie this year!
Which of your Achievements to date are you most proud of?
Traveled around the world doing what I love, I’m self taught, I’m still learning (I’ve only been doing this for 5 years), I get to have amazing stories on all the different sets/projects I worked on, I got to attend festivals featuring my work, won makeup contests, established my own SFX Workshop and company, taught SFX makeup in 4 schools.
What’s your favorite horror film and why?
Where do I start, wow.
The Thing, Hellraiser, gotta love the special effects. Martyr, Nightmare on Elm Street… gotta love the classics.
Who is your hero in the horror world and why?
Honestly, my heroes are all of us. The ones who get out there everyday, work their butts off for their passion. Expressing ourselves is the most bravest thing we can do.
Share a practical tip for a woman who wants to do what you do.
Shine on, you crazy diamond.
Inspire someone who is not where they want to be in the industry yet.
I’m a big believer in “If there’s a will there’s a way”. I’m not gonna tell you that its gonna be easy. You will always come across obstacles. You will spend your days wondering if its worth it, you have to keep reminding yourself it is. You cannot give up. That is not an option. If its not important to you then you will find excuses, It always comes down to how bad you want it.
Scare the crap out of us with something you have done or plan on doing!
I want to make more music videos and go all out – with crazy demons and insane blood effects, with cool lighting. I am always around people who bring their ideas to life, and i cant help but want to make my own.
What projects do you have coming up?
Monsterpalooza in California. Its my first time doing a demo there, and im really nervous. i want to go all out. This is the year for it.
