Being a chick, my hair is very important to me and I don’t allow just anyone to mess with it. I vet all salons and hairdressers carefully and, once I find one I love, I am very loyal. I also tip between 35-50%. This is very important because it makes me a priority client and my hairdresser will go tons of extra miles for me. She stays late, comes to my house off-hours, reduces her rate and, basically, does anything she can to make me happy and keep me as a client. I am a very good client to have but, even after all that, I am still powerless once I sit in that chair and have that nasty cape clipped on.
I’ve been seeing Maria for a couple of years now and have followed her to three different salons (hairdressers move a lot and I have never figured out why) and have been very satisfied with her. She knows what I want and has always delivered. Yesterday I went in for a regular trim, nothing new, just keep same as always. I don’t know if she forgot or if she was in a bad mood or thought she knew better. At any rate, she took tons of body out, reducing my hair to a sleek straight choppy look.
I don’t have the time or interest to straighten my hair every day; I have accepted it is thick and wild and kind of curly. Why can’t she? I’m told change is good; but is it always? I finally made peace with my hair by working with it and not fighting its natural tendencies. What say you?
I bet it’s supersexy!
I know exactly how you feel.
Never again am I going to ask for layers, nor am I going to a salon that caters to the 40+.
I’m sure it looks great, and saying that won’t make you feel better at all. :-/
I went though this last year when my hairdresser of almost 10 years gave me the worst cut ever…I guess it was an off day or the fact that she practically did it with one hand on her fucking cell phone…but I “broke up” with her immediately after.
I’ll take tickes to that rodeo. Yeehaw!
How did it grow out, vange?
