Tell us about yourself:
My name is AJ Horvath and I am a lover of all things horror. I am married and live in Michigan. I enjoy writing, reading, watching horror films, and hitting up festivals throughout the year. I love animals and have 3 dogs (Remmy, Kaiya, and Toby) and two cats (Ripley and Willow). It is important for me to give back so I try to do charity work that helps support the homeless population and those who are dealing with domestic abuse.
Why do you dig horror?
I love horror because it is raw. It hits deep within. It goes after our primal emotions, our fears. I love to see the different ways in which someone can experience fear, terror, and utter disgust.

How has being a woman in the industry helped / hurt you?
I think that being a woman puts a bit of a stigma in the horror community because many horror films portray the female roles as weak, the exception being final girls for the most part. I am early in my career, but I hope as more and more women break into the industry, we will see less of a focus on gender and more of a focus on quality horror regardless of who created it.
Tell a woman who wants to get into horror something you wish someone had told you.
Do you. You don’t have to be like anyone else. Your unique perspective is something that no one else will have so use it, share it, and embrace it.
